Green Friday is an urban plant store and a restaurant in Shanghai. where green is also becoming an ever more popular trend. Romeo visited to help Green Friday capitalise on green’s new popularity and together with the Green Friday team he developed an innovative look and feel and ultimately a completely new store and hospitality concept.
Research had shown that, although there are few places in Shanghai where people can enjoy a cup of herbal tea or coffee, there is definitely demand and the Green Friday store offered a perfect location.
Colours, materials, lamps, furniture and all manner of greenery were eventually combined with a hospitality outlet. The green outdoor patio and a delightful balcony decorated with plants invite people to relax and chat. People can eat downstairs and upstairs and the menu is predominantly made up of fresh and vegetarian dishes. Part of the restaurant can also be converted into a space for lectures and workshops.
In the evenings the plants shop changes into a botanical cocktail bar. And throughout the day and evening people can, of course, buy plants as well.
Green Friday has since become a popular location for young, hip, horticultural enthusiasts and people who love healthy and delicious food.
